Daman and Diu

Daman & Diu is the second smallest Union Territory of India, located on the west coast. It spreads to only 122 square kms. This coastal enclave has two districts- Diu and Daman.

Damanganga River divides Daman into two parts; Moti Daman and the Nani Daman. This Union Territory falls near Gujarat so Gujarati influence is seen every where; even in the official language.

The island districts are the perfect holiday destination to people. The tranquility experienced amid the surrounding blue waters is a treat for the senses. You can take a dip in the waters, enjoy coconut juice just relaxing under palm trees or hover around the island to see the various tourist spots. In summers the temperature revolves around 17� - 38�C and in winters 10� - 34�C. So September to April is the best time to visit Daman and Diu.

Places to see in Daman

Fort of Moti Daman

The Colossal Fort of Moti Daman is polygonal in shape. Many official buildings like the Secretariat are located in the Northern side of the Fort.

Fort of Nani Daman

The small fort has three bastions and two gateways. The giant gateway faces the river with a large statue of St. Jerome and the gateway is protected by two giant human figures, one on either side. The church of Our Lady of the Sea within the Fort is an important structure in it.

Nani Daman

Gandhi Park near Nani Daman jetty, Lighthouse, church the Se Cathedral, Somnath Mahadev Temple in nearby Dabhel village and the fishing jetty in Nani Daman are places to see.

Kadaiya Lake Garden

It is one of the favourite man-made tourist destinations. The view of two islands connected via a bridge looks as like two eyes embedded on the face. The greenery, fountains and beautiful boats along with playful toy train adds upto its charm.

The Kadaiya Lake Garden is a famous tourist spot for shooting of many films. Mirasol Water Park in the garden is a perfect place to enjoy fun activities.

Devka Beach

The beautiful and well maintained amusement park with its musical fountain and kid's corner at Devka beach has always attracts the tourists. Children enjoy pony - ride on the sands.

Jampore Beach

Jampore Beach extends to Gujarat in the south. It is a place where you can romance with nature. The sea-shore is an ideal place for picnic. Strolling in wet sandy beach is an enthralling experience.

Places to see in Diu

Nagoa Beach

Nagoa Beach is the most popular semi-circular beach. The playful waves coming to the shores wheedle you to take a dip, play on the edges or engage in water sports. Quiet Gomptimata, Chakratirth near it are the other favorite beaches.

Gangeshwar Temple

Gangeshwar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Five lingas present in the middle of rocks on the shore represent Shiva and are continuously rinsed by the sea waves.

Ghoghla Beach

Ghoghla Beach offers opportunities for water sports to tourists.

St. Thomas Church and Museum

St. Thomas's Church is now Diu Museum. The magnificent building is constructed in gothic architectural style.

Diu Fort

Diu Fort erected on the coast arrests the attention of everyone. The ancient stonework of the fort overwhelms you by its majesty.
